MATMED Support Programme

Participate in the MATMED Support Programme

Good news for SMEs active in the fields of advanced materials, medical devices and regenerative medicine in the North West European region. Thanks to the MATMED Support Programme, these small-medium enterprises can participate in high-quality transnational collaborations and help accelerate the commercialisation of medical applications at the crossroads of these three fields. The programme facilitates innovation and partnerships for SMEs by providing international matching and access to relevant know-how, clinical facilities and research on business and technology validation and demonstration.

In a first part of the programme, MATMED offers an online matchmaking platform, where a network is built between, among others, SMEs, large enterprises, academia, research organisations and investors. Once members have been matched and there is dialogue and capacity for innovative crossover solutions, the programme in a second part focuses on actively supporting collaborations between these SMEs and other parties via a voucher system. The MATMED vouchers are intended to accelerate crossover innovations. In total there are two types of vouchers, which collaborations can apply for: a voucher for technology validation (up to €12,500) and a voucher for technology demonstration (up to €25,000). Both can be distributed in the form of staff costs or direct financial contribution to cover (part of) the costs from an external service provider. The cooperation can be implemented in different ways, depending on the requirements. Some examples are making expertise available, granting access to facilities, carrying out experiments …

MATMED is a transnational project co-funded by Interreg North-West Europe (NWE), formed by ten organisations from four countries. They have joined forces to create positive impacts on health and wellbeing through this project. The aim of the support programme is to ensure that advanced healthcare solutions reach both patients and the wider population more quickly.
