Take part in GREENER Workshop

On October 4th, 2021, several companies, public and private knowledge institutions will organise the workshop GREENER. The event will take place online via Zoom from 1 PM to 5 PM. During the workshop, the project partners will present the interdisciplinary project GREENER in more detail, two interesting guest speakers from related Interreg projects will give a lecture and you will have the opportunity to meet all project partners during various brainstorm sessions. During the brainstorm sessions in break-out rooms, the researchers will reflect together with the audience on different sub-aspects within GREENER.

GREENER is an Interreg project in which several industrial and academic partners based in Belgium and the Netherlands (University of Maastricht, UGent, KU Leuven, Tenco DDM, Millvision and Govi) work together to contribute to the reduction of the microplastics pollution. Together they search for biobased and biodegradable polymers as sustainable alternatives for the widespread and water-soluble polymer polyacrylic acid. In this way, the amount of microplastics that enter our environment can be reduced and only non-toxic, naturally occurring compounds are released upon degradation of these polymers.

Next to development of these polymers, they will also be valorized in a plethora of applications, ranging from superabsorbent materials for construction and healthcare to biomedical materials (tissue regeneration, 3D printing of patient-specific implants), cosmetics and coating applications.
